Since 1977, Christian Men’s Network has discipled men to become servant leaders in their families, churches, communities, and nations. Dr. Edwin Louis Cole, with his family, launched the ministry with this declaration: “I have been called to speak with a prophetic voice to the men of this generation and commissioned with a ministry majoring in men to declare a standard for manhood, and that standard is ‘manhood and Christlikeness are synonymous.’”
The foundational truth of this international movement is that “Manhood and Christlikeness are synonymous.”
The original message God gave Dr. Cole is stated in the book, Maximized Manhood. Continuing understanding of the Word caused it to grow and be multiplied. However, the basic truth of being identified with Christ, which is the essence of salvation, continues to transform men's lives today. CMN was not initiated to minister for reaction, but for result.
In 1986, after nine years of in-person and in-print ministry, CMN launched a video-of-the-month “video network” that continued for sixteen years. Dr. Cole’s teachings were shipped to thousands of churches across North America and around the world. As a result, the ministry reached into 210 nations, launched dozens of national representatives, and ministered to millions of men the message of Christlike manhood. Countless thousands of men have had life-changing experiences, marriages have been resurrected, relationships healed, and ministers challenged and encouraged.
CMN, since its inception, has birthed hundreds of men’s ministries worldwide. At an athletes’ conference in the early 1990’s, Dr. Cole ministered on “Your Word is Your Bond.” Hearing that message, Coach Bill McCartney became determined to call men to integrity. McCartney invited Dr. Cole to minister the same message at the first “Promise Keepers” stadium event he and his friends created. Dr. Cole spoke at Promise Keepers every year until his death in 2002. Coach McCartney was perhaps the first to call Dr. Cole "the father of the Christian men's movement.”
Dr. Cole authored eleven books which have grown to multiple millions of copies in circulation in more than fifty languages. The books with corresponding workbooks were formed into the Majoring In Men® Curriculum, a systematic study to disciple men. CMN cofounder Paul Louis Cole has authored additional books.
The goal of CMN is to see men change through the power of the Gospel. For that purpose, to that end, and for God's glory, all CMN efforts are made to fulfill His calling and to impact men with the manhood of Christlikeness.
